To install the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager on Linux (Veeam Software Appliance) at Hyper-V 2025, you must first build a special Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V virtual machine (VM) that satisfies hardware requirements. Then, you must boot the VM from the VSA ISO.
Veeam Software Appliance is a software solution that includes Enterprise Manager or Veeam Backup & Replication along with the Rocky Linux operating system.
Note:
- Enterprise Manager on Linux is only compatible with the Enterprise Plus edition license.
- Other backup infrastructure components cannot be installed on the same machine where Enterprise Manager is installed.
- DISA and FIPS-compliant Linux policies are used by Veeam Software Appliance. It is not possible to alter these policies.
1.Login to Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V host.
2.Download Veeam Software Appliance Bootable ISO (sign in required).

3.Open Hyper-V Manager tool.
4.Right-click the host, select New and click Virtual Machine.
5.Click Next on the Before You Begin page.
6.On the Specify Name and Location page, type the virtual machine name in the Name field.
7.Select Store the virtual machine in a different location, enter the path in the Location field and click Next.
8.Select Generation 2 on the Specify Generation page and click Next.
9.Enter the Startup memory size on the Assign Memory page and click Next.
Note:
Memory: 16 GB RAM plus 500 MB RAM for each concurrent job.
10.Select the Hyper-V switch on the Configure Networking page and click Next.
11.Select Attach a virtual hard disk later on the Connect Virtual Hard Disk page and click Next.
12.Click Finish on the Summary page.
13.Right-click the virtual machine and select Settings
14.Select SCSI Controller, select Hard Drive and click Add.
15.Click New in the virtual hard disk field.
16.Click Next on the Before You Begin page.
17.Click Next on the Choose Disk Type page.
Note:
Fixed size is recommending.
18.On the Specify Name and Location page, enter the disk1 name in the Name field, enter the path in the Location field and click Next.
19.On the Configure Disk page, enter disk size in the Size field and click Next.
Note:
Disk 1: 240 GB minimum. This disk hosts Veeam JeOS, Veeam Backup & Replication software, the configuration database, and the instant recovery cache.
20.Click Finish on the Completing the New Virtual Hard Disk Wizard page.
21.Click Apply on the settings page.
22.Select SCSI Controller, select Hard Drive and click Add.
23.Click New in the virtual hard disk field.
24.Click Next on the Before You Begin page.
25.Click Next on the Choose Disk Type page.
Note:
Fixed size is recommending.
26.On the Specify Name and Location page, enter the disk2 name in the Name field, enter the path in the Location field and click Next.
27.On the Configure Disk page, enter disk size in the Size field and click Next.
Note:
Disk 2: 240 GB minimum. This disk hosts guest file system catalogs and backups, therefore recommended sizing depends on your backup storage needs. Any additional disks found in the system will be automatically joined with Disk 2 into the single Logical Volume Manager (LVM) spanned volume.
28.Click Finish on the Completing the New Virtual Hard Disk Wizard page.
29.Click Apply on the Settings page.
30.Select SCSI Controller, select DVD Drive and click Add.
31.Select Image file (.iso), click Browse to select the Veeam Software Appliance ISO image file and click Apply.
32.Select Processor, change the Number of virtual processors to 8 and click Apply.
Note:
CPU: x86-64 processor (minimum 8 cores recommended).
33.Select Firmware, select Network Adapter, click Move Down until the Network Adapter on the bottom and click Apply.
34.Select Security, select Enable Secure Boot and change the Template to Microsoft UEFI Certificate Authority.
35.Click Apply and click OK to close Settings page.
36.Right-click the virtual machine and select Connect.
37.Click Start in the Virtual Machine Connection page.
38.Select Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager and press Enter.
39.Select Install – fresh install, wipes everything (including local backups) and press Enter.
40.The proceeding with the installation will wipe all data, click Yes to continue.
41.It may take a few minutes to install.
42.Select Accept on the License page and press Enter.
43.Type the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager server name in the Hostname field, select Next and press Enter.
44.Select Static on the Network page and press Enter.
45.Type IP address information, select Apply and press Enter.
46.Select Next on the Network page and press Enter.
47.Select Change on the Time page.
48.Using filter and TAB key to select your local time zone and press Enter.
49.Select Next on the Time page and press Enter.
50.On the Host Administrator page, type password in the Password field, select Next and press Enter.
51.On the Configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) page, follow the steps to setup your authenticator app.
52.Type a one-time password provided by your app, select Ok and press Enter.
53.Select Next on the Host Administrator page and press Enter.
54.On the Security Officer page, type the password in the Password field for veeamso, select Next and press Enter.
55.On the Summary page, select Finish and press Enter.
56.You can use a browser to access Host management console and Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager web UI.
Note:
Don’t forget to add DNS record or local hosts file for the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager Server.
57.Open a Browser, type Https://VSA13MGMT:10443 and press Enter.
58.On the Sing in page, click Sign in after type user name and password.
59.On the Confirm Multi-factor authentication (MFA) page, type code and click Sign in.
60.Ensure you can use it to log in to the Host Management console and continue configuring Veeam Software Appliance.
61.Open a Browser, type Https://VSA13MGMT:443 and press Enter.
62.On the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager Sing in page, click Sign in after type user name and password.
63.Select Configuration on the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager Web UI page.
64.Select About to review all information.
65.Click Check for Updates and Install updates.
66.Ensure your system is up to date.
